Members of the Avonpark knit and natter group have started to work on a selection of gifts for Christmas.
The knit and natter group meets once a week in the communities coffee lounge. It’s a fun and relaxed session anyone in the community is welcome to join. Some members are avid knitters and have been making things for family and friends for years. While others are just starting out and learning from those that are more experienced.
As it’s so informal people tend to just work on anything that takes their fancy. But with Christmas coming they have decided to work together and knit a number of gift items, including; robins, snowmen, little stockings, and even mini Christmas trees. They plan to sell the items to raise money for a local charity, and spread some Christmas cheer around the community.
James Grundy, Village Manager, comments, “This activity started out very informally, with a couple of people getting together. It’s great to watch it grow into a local charity initiative. Supporting our residents with hobbies they enjoy is one of the great things about community living at Avonpark.”
