Meet Ronette, Community Coordinator at The Wyldewoods
As we move closer to the opening of The Wyldewoods, we’re taking time to introduce you to the amazing team bringing this vibrant new community in Chester to life. Each team member brings a wealth of experience to help foster wellbeing, independence, and connection for our future residents. With an onsite restaurant, amenities, and events, The Wyldewoods promises a lively community experience with the peaceful sanctuary of your own space when you need it.
Today, we're excited to introduce Ronette Paynter—better known as Roni—who joins us as The Wyldewoods Community Coordinator.
Getting to know Roni and her role at The Wyldewoods
Roni’s role is all about creating a warm, welcoming environment for residents and making sure everyone feels right at home from day one. She’ll be the go-to person for organising activities and events that bring people together, helping residents stay connected, engaged, and active.
“My job is to organise activities, welcome residents when they move in, and give them all the information they need to settle in,” says Roni. "I also want to encourage residents to continue their hobbies or even discover something new. If you don’t see your hobby on the list, we’ll work together to introduce it!"

Connecting with the Chester Community
Roni is equally committed to forging links between The Wyldewoods and the local Chester community. "Contrary to many retirement villages, we aren’t and won’t be a closed village," she explains. "Myself and the Hospitality Manager, will be planning coffee mornings, themed evenings, and other events to invite the local community in. The restaurant will be a fantastic hub for residents and locals alike."
Community outreach is a big part of Roni’s role. She’ll be working with local clubs and businesses to create opportunities for residents to stay socially active and connected to the community. Whether it’s booking theatre tickets, recommending local museums, or introducing residents to local golf and tennis clubs, her role at The Wyldewoods includes ‘Travel Coordinator' ensuring residents stay connected to the world outside the village. "If I don’t know something, I’ll find out," she adds with a smile.
Bringing care to the role
Before joining The Wyldewoods, Roni spent six years as an Activities Coordinator in a care home. Her experience working with older adults means she brings a wealth of patience, understanding, and a genuine passion for listening. "I’m a good listener," she says. "I love hearing residents' stories and getting to know them."
What drew Roni to The Wyldewoods?
For Roni, being part of The Wyldewoods is more than just a job—it’s a passion. “I’ve passed the site every day since construction started, and I’ve loved watching it grow out of the ground,” she says.
What attracted her most to The Wyldewoods was the concept of helping people thrive in their later years. “This is not a care home—we’re helping people live life to the full, on their own terms,” she shares. “I want to help instil that energy and passion into all our residents.”
A glimpse into Roni’s life outside The Wyldewoods
As a Chester local for over 40 years, Roni has deep roots in the community. When she’s not busy at work, you’ll find her spending time with her family and friends, and her dog. “Family life is really important to me.”
She’s also a bit of an artist! “I love to draw and paint. A friend recently gifted me some expensive drawing pencils, and the things you can do with them are amazing!”
With Roni’s warmth, creativity, and community-focused approach, we’re confident she’ll help make The Wyldewoods a place where residents can truly thrive, stay connected, and truly enjoy life.
