The residents continued on their “dine around the world” tour last week, with a special three course lunch menu, visiting Italy.
The menu selection included, a tricolour insalata to start which was very popular. For mains residents could chose between; chicken and red pesto strozzapreti, a crab meat and prawn linguine or a aubergine sliced bake in tomato sauce with mozzarella and basil. To finish the meal residents were treated to a classic homemade tiramisu or vanilla panna cotta with caramelised orange.
Accompanying the meal was a Sbagliato cocktail made with prosecco, vermouth and Campari. In Italian, "sbagliato" means "mistake." Supposedly, a bartender grabbed sparkling wine instead of gin as he was making this cocktail, resulting in this happy, delicious mistake. The residents were more than happy with their “mistake” cocktail.
Chairman of the residents committee commented, “One of the best lunches I have had so far in Thamesfield, great work once again.”
