The coronation of King Charles III was a moment in history for many people across the United Kingdom to get together and celebrate a new era for the country. Young, old, and everyone in between tuned in to see the event which was streamed across the world.
In our communities, the atmosphere was buzzing with a host of different events from dinner and drinks to BBQs and bands. Some residents reminisced about the previous Coronation, sharing memories of how different life was then, but everyone enjoyed the opportunity to get together and celebrate.
Here’s a roundup from our communities.
Roseland Parc
At Roseland Parc the team planted a magnific King Charles Oak tree in their walled garden. The gardens in the community are something to behold, and head gardener Bob won a series of awards at the Early Chelsea Flower Show in April this year, so the addition of this tree will only enhance them further.
They also held a BBQ on the terrace and joined in the wider celebrations at the Tregony Village Big Lunch on Sunday.
Melanie Evans, Village Manager, commented, "Seeing everyone come together for a BBQ in our stunning grounds was fantastic, it was a lot of fun for everyone."
Avonpark
At Avonpark the flag was flying high as celebrations got underway and residents were busy decorating the village with beautiful homemade bunting. Residents joined in with a BBQ and various activities across the community, including posing with a life-size cut out of the King and an art exhibition.
James Grundy, Village Manager, commented, "The atmosphere in the community was fabulous. The team did us proud laying on a great BBQ and keeping everyone entertained across the weekend activities. The residents art display was a real highlight for me, the classes have been going on for sometime now, so the exhibition gave those involved a chance to showcase their work and we have some great talent in the community."
Charters Village
Residents at Charters Village were treated to a feast by their new head chef. The buffet lunch was fit for a King, with poached salmon and various other treats, ensuring no one left hungry. Afternoon entertainment took the form of singing and dancing to the sounds of the 60s.
Nigel Walters, Village Manager, said, “It was a delightful weekend and the community was a hive of activity. Lunch was a great success and many people stayed into the evening enjoying each other’s company.”
Moat Park
Moat Park hosted a BBQ in their bistro which was followed by a singer, giving everyone to opportunity to get up and dance into the evening.
Many residents took part in the best-decorated crown competition, with the winner, Barbara, enjoying a bottle of prosecco to share with family and friends. She also cut the fabulous Coronation cake that was decorated with a Royal Emblem.
Village Manager, Lisa Marie, commented, “Moat Park is such a special place. The whole community came together on Saturday to celebrate. I’m very proud of everyone who helped to make the weekend events so enjoyable.”
Castle Village
At Castle Village the flag was flying high above the clubhouse all weekend. Whilst inside the lounge and conservatory were busy with residents enjoying lunch. Eton Mess was the dessert of choice, served with flags for extra sparkle.
Residents Carol and John, commented, "Thank you for the lunch on Sunday, it was a lovely occasion and the food & service brilliant"
Village Manager, Karen Rae, commented, “The clubhouse was packed and everyone was chatting. Our bar was open and there was lots going on all weekend. Some residents invited their families to come and join in as well.”
Thamesfield
The Thamesfield team hosted an array of events across the weekend for the community, including a screening on the big screen and a special piano performance in the resident’s lounge.
The River was very busy with boats and many residents enjoyed drinks and snacks on the riverbank to catch the parade during the afternoon.
Village Manager, Lorence Pjetri, commented, “It was a busy weekend at our community, we held a variety of different lunches to all our resident’s tastes and hosted family members who wanted to join in the celebrations too.”
